Replace a OKI C650 Image Drum
Installing a replacement image drum is easy, just follow the simple steps below. For more detailed help, try our knowledge base article on how to Replace a C650 Drum. The instructions that follow assume you are directly facing the front of your OKI printer.
The large yield of a printers image drum is constantly refreshed up by its toner cartridge. But eventually it will begin to run low and notify you on the control panel. This is when you need to order a replacement if you don’t have any. The message will change and prompt you to replace it once it is empty, it may even stop printing.
Step 1: Remove the Empty Image Drum
Before you install a new drum, you’ll have to remove the empty one.
Open up your printers front cover and pull out the L1 lever, then lift up the L2 toner tray. Now use the L3 handle to pull out the image drum basket. Locate your empty drum by using the label on the top of the unit. To remove it, simply pull the drum unit straight up out of the housing. And put it aside for later disposal or recycling.
Step 2: Prepare Your New Image Drum
Get your new drum ready to install into your printer.
Take your replacement image drum from its box and remove all its packaging. Because drums can easily get damaged, handle with care. And careful you don’t expose it to strong light or leave it uncovered for more than 5 minutes.
Step 3: Install the New Image Drum
Insert your new image drum & close the printer up.
Simply line up your replacement drum with its label on the right and push it down into the empty housing. Now push in the drum basket using the L3 lever and lower the L2 toner tray. Finally push in the L1 lever and close up the printer.
